Sun Lakes 2/7/2020 Slept six hours without budging and then got up. Wrote the Kokopelli story and translated it to Spanish. Finished the prized possession box page and diddled around. Still on a diet. That damned coffee creamer was costing me god alone knows how many calories. I mean maybe 500. No more for me. Dieting big time. Today, I drove to Craft 64 and saw Roger Carpenter. I couldn't drink so I left. I went down and there was a place soon to open called the Pedal House Brewery and I talked to the cook in Spanish cause he was from Veracruz and mentioned I wanted a gig and he sent me inside and I talked to the owners and they seemed interested and gave me a card and I sent them my link to the Singing with the Birds album.

Sun Lakes 2/5/2020 Slept 8 hours straight. Talked to Roberto. Wrote and did web page. I want to go over to the peach and mention I played there 27 weeks straight and try to get a gig. Or to other places.

Two people wanted me to play Margaritaville last night. That seems to be the one they ask for. No one even asks for Bobby McGee or Brown-eyed Girl. I used to have a swing version of Bobby McGee and perhaps I could make a medley of the three. One old slightly toasted patron wrote out the following list of country singers including "Merral Haggard," whom I never have forgiven for his "Okie" song. I sang Jimmy Dean's "Old Rivers" for him just for laughs. Broke into tears as Walter Brennan did at the last words. Nice crack in my voice. Har!

I steer clear of the 60s and 70s songbook mostly except for the odd Beatle tune. It's great but really worn out. I avoid that slight marijuana flavor by doing other tunes. My latest is Mr. Blue!

I have forgiven Merle after learning that song was a satire of his arrest for smoking pot in Muskogee. He and Neil Young were fishing buddies and often sang together on outings. Sing Long May You Run next chance you get.

My guitar broke and I played everything on the $119 telecaster knock-off. I played most everything including "Old Faithful" and those. I played two hours. a group of photographers from glendale com college or something were there. I sold two cds. alan gave me fifty bucks. Saw some leaves around the door. I went to a bar with a bunch of motorcycles in front of it. I went in and asked the guys at the bar what happened to the bar. They said he hadn't officially closed it, but that he hadn't been open in about eight months. Damn! There was a walking stick by the door of the Superior Bar, wasn't there? I took a picture. Oh, they were so pokey walking that it was unreal. I met one of the arboretum guys who wants me to come and help with a bird count. I'd rather come and sing. There were musicians there. They were pretty good, but I like my show, so I'll go and look. I blabbed to one of the members. I walked. I lost Al and Tiger. Too slow. I split and I went to Superior, Arizona and someone had thrown a couple of rocks through the window of The Superior Bar. There on the side.
